Study group

When you want to play roller derby there's a huge amount of hoops you have to jump through.

Tonight the Rotterdam Death Row Honeys study group took place for the second time and was again a fun success.

There's something very satisfying about eating with a group of friends around that big table (I'm so glad I kept the table) and discussing the rules that we need to know to pass our minimum skills test to set on the road to the WFTDA.

Oh knowledge, you are so sweet.

Training with the fresh meat

So training with the fresh meat isn't really like training with fresh meat anymore. They are good. Really good and so keen too.
Soon they will be doing their minimum skills and then they can scrimmage and they are going to be awesome.

I am very proud to be the head referee of the Rotterdam Death Row Honeys. I love our name, our emblem and our city. I hope that we can bring something different and original to the sport while staying grounded and being a solid part of roller derby on a global scale.

I don't know why I am sitting here babbling on about this. I have to go back to work tomorrow and I need to get some sleep.

scrimmage number one

Easter Sunday 2011 saw the first ever scrimmage of a Dutch and Belgian team. It was also my first ever scrimmage and was fortunate enough to be on the ref squad with Hunter S Tossem (Rat City, Seattle) and Major Madness (Ruhrpot Roller Girls, Essen) and it was brilliant.

Seems I'm not as fat and slow as I thought I was.

The Antwerp One Love Roller Girls vs The Amsterdam Derby Dames end result was a 211 - 49 ass whipping to Antwerp but in true derby style everyone was drinking in the sun afterwards.

Delightful.
